Shikhar Dhawan Opens Up On His Absence From India’s T20I Setup
Shikhar Dhawan is enjoying a good comeback in the Indian colours by winning the three-match ODI series against the West Indies. He was also the captain of the side. Now, he is also going to lead them in the upcoming three ODI matches against Zimbabwe, starting from 18 August 2022.
However, still he failed to make a comeback in the T20I setup for India. Ahead of the T20 World Cup in Australia later this year, Time is running out for Dhawan to make a comeback in the shortest format of the game. Now, he opened up about his absence from India’s T20I setup.
“I feel that there is a time for everything and maybe it’s not my time. Maybe I lack something” – Shikhar Dhawan
Speaking to Sports Tak, the Indian batter, Shikhar Dhawan said that maybe the time is not right for him to make a comeback. He also said that maybe he lacks something on his game to get a place in the T20I setup for India. Dhawan said: “To be honest. I don’t feel any disappointment as such. I feel that there is a time for everything and maybe it’s not my time. Maybe I lack something that I haven’t been able to do too well. So worries, I gave my best and that’s what matters.
Dhawan added that he is in a good space currently. Hence, this kind of thing does not bother him. “Till the time I am happy and content, that is all I care about. It’s not like if my name doesn’t come, I will be affected or anything like that. I am in a very good space; I am doing my best,” Dhawan said.
Shikhar Dhawan also said that he is keeping himself ready for any opportunities in the future for playing in Indian colours in any format of the game. “If the opportunity provides then why not? When I play in the Indian T0 League, I try my best to perform. And if I do well there, I might get a chance. Rest is up to the selectors… what their thought process is, what is their vision. Like I said, if it comes, great, but even if it doesn’t, that’s also fine. I am keeping myself fit and strong and whenever I get the opportunity, I am ready for it,” Dhawan concluded.
