The Indian T20 League began in the year 2008 and not a lot of people had expected it to achieve such big heights. Today, it has emerged as the second most valuable league in the world of sports.

On Tuesday, the Indian Cricket Board had announced that they have earned INR 48,390 crore through the media rights for a five-year period between 2023 and 2028.

After such a huge success, the Indian Cricket Board is planning to make some significant changes with regards to the development on Indian Cricket. Besides, the president of the Indian Cricket Board has also shed light on their plans to improve the fan-experience inside the stadium.

The Board is planning to improve the stadiums and make the viewers an ever better experience to witness the games.

“We will work on it for sure and develop overall infrastructure for a better fan experience. A lot of new stadiums have come up, and the infrastructure of cricket in this country is huge. We will redo a few stadiums a bit and bring back IPL with completely different extravaganza and fandom next year,” Ganguly told Sportstar.

Because of the Covid-19 Pandemic, the Indian Cricket Board were restricted to conduct the tournament only in a few grounds. However, the board’s primary objective right now is to hold the tournament across the ten venues.

“The last two years have been affected by COVID and the biggest thing is that despite COVID, we managed to host the tournament and this time, we finished it with great hype in Kolkata and Ahmedabad…”

“It’s a great tournament and it will continue to thrive. But most importantly, the IPL has to go back to a home-and-away format from next year,” Ganguly said.

Two new teams, namely Gujarat and Lucknow made their debut in the Indian T20 League 2022. Both the teams went on to reach the playoffs. Much to everyone’s surprise, Hardik Pandya-led Gujarat went on to lift the title.
