Sreesanth and two others accused of fraud case by Kerala Police
S Sreesanth is accused of a fraud case along with two others in a case registered by a man from North Kerala. A resident of Choondal village in Thrissur district of Kerala named Sarish Gopalan accused Sreesanth of a fraud case along with two others named Venkatesh Kini and Rajiv Kumar. Gopalan claimed that the two took about INR 18.70 lakh from him for building a sports academy in Kollur Karnataka.
It is interesting to note that Sreesanth is a partner of the sports academy. On the 25th of April 2019, the two took a huge sum from the victim. Satish also revealed that he was offered a partnership in the academy which was allegedly going to be built. All the three members accused by Gopalan have been booked under Indian Penal Code 420 for the fraud case.
The IPC 420 is about involvement in Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property. If what reports suggest are to be believed, Sreesanth might have to face a huge consequence. The image of the former Indian pacer is already bad. If Sreesanth gets proven guilty, he might not just have to get punished, but also add another black mark in his career full of controversies.
Spot-fixing cases in the past
Sreesanth was caught in a spot-fixing case during the IPL 2010 game between Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals. Since Sreesanth was proven guilty, he was banned from playing Cricket by the Indian Cricket Board. India lost a talented bowler who could have made it big in cricket. More importantly, the image of Sreesanth was tarnished. In the last few years, the ban on Sreesanth was lifted.
The former Indian pacer has taken part in some of the Indian domestic tournaments since then. Sreesanth had also applied for auctions of the IPL seasons in recent years. But the former Indian cricketer was not picked by any franchise. The former Indian pacer played a key role in the team’s T20 World Cup winning campaign in 2007 and the ODI World Cup winning campaign in 2011 respectively.
