Suryakumar Yadav ruled out of series against Afghanistan due to Ankle Tear

Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav is set to miss Cricket action till February and is highly anticipated to miss the T20 series against Afghanistan due to a Grade 2 Ankle Tear. Suryakumar Yadav got injured during the last T20 match of India’s tour of South Africa and he went out of the field as Ravindra Jadeja took charge for the rest of the match.

As per the medical reports, Suryakumar Yadav will miss the series against Afghanistan which will begin on 11 January and is expected to spend some time at the NCA for rehab. Surya Kumari Yadav might participate in the Ranji trophy while representing Mumbai to check his fitness levels before the commencement of IPL 2024 for Mumbai Indians.

“Surya has reported to NCA for rehab work and the Medical Science team as of now has ruled him injured. He won’t be able to play against Afghanistan which starts in three weeks’ time. Since he is unlikely to be selected for Tests, he will possibly play for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy in February to check his fitness before playing in the IPL,” a close source of the Indian cricket board told Indian Express.

“There is no update on Hardik’s fitness status as of now and one can say there remains a big question mark of him being available before the end of IPL,” the source added.

Ishan Kishan set to miss India’s tour of South Africa Test series

“The BCCI respects a player’s privacy and no one will ask Kishan the reason why he decided to skip the Tests. Maybe once Rahul was announced as a keeper in Tests, he didn’t want to hang around. It does take a toll if you are not picked consistently”, the source said.

“He informed the team management that he is having mental fatigue and wants a break from cricket for some time. Everyone agreed to it,” another close source revealed.

The Indian Cricket Board released an official statement regarding Ishan Kishan missing the upcoming test series. The statement read, “Ishan Kishan has requested the BCCI to be released from the upcoming Test series against South Africa citing personal reasons. The wicketkeeper has subsequently been withdrawn from the Test squad. The men’s selection committee has named KS Bharat as a replacement.”
