‘Test cricketer of the year’ – Fans react as Pat Cummins achieves another milestone takes 12 wicket hauls in Test Cricket for Australia
The Australian skipper Pat Cummins has seen good times ahead of him as he has consistently performed well for his team across all the formats. Be it leading the team towards the first World Test Championship trophy or the ODI World Cup 2023 for the sixth time, Cummins has been a phenomenal player for Australia. Recently, Pat Cummins achieved another milestone as he entered the elite list of taking the most five-wicket hauls for Australia in Test cricket.
Among the active Australian cricket players, Pat Cummins is ranked number three. He recently took a five-wicket haul against Pakistan and the first innings of the third Test match of Pakistan’s tour of Australia. He only stood behind Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon who have taken 14 and 23 five-wicket hauls respectively.
Pat Cummins ahead of 3rd Test Match against Pakistan
In the pre-match conference, the Australian skipper Pat Cummins spoke about David Warner’s farewell Test match and said, “Best-case scenario is a hundred and maybe a leg-spinner to take the last wicket of the game out of the rough. [Hopefully, there is] just a fantastic turnout here, which I’m sure it will be with everyone behind him. If he could score some runs and go off in style with a few fours and sixes, I think that’d be a pretty fitting end. ‘Warner Week’ has started.”
“We spend a lot of time on the road and it can be monotonous, but with Davey, it never is. There is always something going on. He always brings plenty of energy to the group. If the group is a little low on energy, he ramps it up a bit and gets us up and going,” Cummins added.
While talking about the weather of the third test he said, “The weather looks pretty good this week and that’s not always the case in Sydney. I had a look yesterday and [the pitch] looks good. The groundsman seems happy with where it’s at. It looks like decent coverage of grass, so it should be a good week ahead.”
