Australia had a nightmare game against their neighbors and Trans-Tasman rivals, New Zealand at the Sydney Cricket Ground. In the Super 12 encounter between the Oceania neighbors, the Kiwi scored 200/3 after being asked to bat first. Finn Allen, who is playing his first 20-20 World Cup started the assault against the likes of Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, etc. The good start provided by Allen was carried on by other batters.

Devon Conway played carried the bat with 92 runs. On the other hand, the likes of Glenn Phillips and Jimmy Neesham played good cameos to take the team to the highest total of the ongoing tournament. In reply, the defending champions had no answer to the disciplined bowling from the opposition. The Aaron Finch-led side lost the game by 89 runs.

Meanwhile, in this listicle, we will have a look at three improvements Australia need to make to qualify for the semis.

1. Think about winning the rest of the games first

Easier said than done, the Aussies must look to win the rest of the games in the Super 12. In the four remaining games, they will play against the likes of England, Sri Lanka, Ireland, and Afghanistan. The Three Lions would like to make the life of their Ashes rivals a lot more difficult.

Also, the games against Sri Lanka, Ireland, and Afghanistan won’t be easy for them. Not to forget, teams such as Sri Lanka and Ireland recently showed that they are no pushovers, Meanwhile, the home team must have the mindset of winning these games and park the NZ loss aside.
