Top three expensive players in Lanka Premier League 2023 auction
On June 14, the Shangri-La Hotel in Colombo hosted the auction for the 2023 season of the Lanka Premier League (LPL). For the first LPL auction, a total of 360 players, both capped and uncapped, including international stars, registered.
However, due to the limited squad sizes, Charu Sharma’s auction saw a total of 94 players being sold among all five teams. The event, which is slated to take place from July 30 to August 22, 2023, featured some interesting bidding wars at the auction as clubs competed to recruit great cricketers.
Let’s look at the three most expensive players in the 2023 edition of the Lanka Premier League:
3. $76,000 – Dhananjaya de Silva and Binura Fernando:
Dhananjaya de Silva made history on Wednesday by becoming the first player ever to be sold in the LPL auction. The Dambulla Aura paid $76,000 to get the famed all-rounder from Sri Lanka. The identical fee of $76,000 was also paid by the Dambulla franchise to hire Binura Fernando. He bowls with a strong left arm and is a tall left-arm pacer with a terrific yorker. The third-most expensive players at the auction are Dhananjaya and Binura.
