Team India showcased a disappointing performance in the second ODI of three-match series against West Indies. The hosts equalled the series 1-1 as they defeated the Men in Blue by six wickets at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, in Barbados on Saturday, July 29. The fans were really upset with the visitor’s performance, which came after a brilliant win in the first ODI.  For the second match, India rested two of their main players, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The fans were not happy with this decision as the ODI World Cup is just three months away.

This was India’s first loss against the Windies in the last 10 ODI matches. After the loss, the slogan ‘Sack Rahul Dravid’ emerged as one of the trending hashtags on social media. The Indian Cricket Team has not been able to win any big tournaments so far. Some fans claimed that Dravid’s experiments are not showing any positive results.

The fans mocked the right-hand batter on Twitter while using the reference from the latest Hollywood release Oppenheimer, writing, “Now I’ve become death, the destroyer of Indian Cricket team with my politics.” Another fan wrote,” Don’t blame Hardik, Rohit, and Dravid should take responsibility for this defeat.”

Here’s how fans reacted:

Honestly, this was our last chance to try some of our players: Rahul Dravid

“Honestly, this was our last chance to try some of our players. We have got four of our players who are injured and are in the NCA. With days to go for the Asia Cup and then the World Cup, we are kind of running out of time in a lot of ways. And we are hoping that some of them will be for the Asia Cup and the World Cup but we can’t take those chances,” Dravid was quoted as saying to the media after the match.

“It also gives us the opportunity to make some decisions on players. Honestly in a series like this with 2-3 matches to go before the Asia Cup, playing Kohli and Rohit would have not given us any answers. But with the injuries we have in the NCA and some uncertainty around them we just wanted to give others a chance,” the former India skipper asserted.
