‘He is a full time Legend’ : Dinesh Karthik rockets Bangalore to victory against Rajasthan
Rajasthan took on Bangalore in the 13th match of the Indian T20 League 2022 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. It was a thriller of a match, going down the wire and keeping everyone interested till the very end.
Faf Du Plessis won the toss and decided that the men in red will field first. Rajasthan lost a wicket early in their innings. In the second over they were 6 for 1 down. Devdutt Padikkal and Jos Buttler got together at the stage and took their team forward steadily. They stitched a 70 runs partnership. Padikkal was dismissed in the 10th over of the innings for 37 runs off 29 deliveries. The skipper of the Rajasthan team Sanju Samson soon followed and the team was 86 for 3 in the 12th over. Shimron Hetmyer joined Buttler in the middle and the duo continued till the end of the innings. Hetmyer continued his good form scoring 42 runs off 31 deliveries, while Buttler picked up from where he left in the last match. After a brilliant century in the last match, Buttler scored 70 off 47 today. His innings was decorated with 6 sixes but he did not hit a single 4 during his stay. Rajasthan finished with a score of 169 for 3 in their 20 overs. Harshal Patel was the pick of the bowlers for Bangalore picking up a wicket and conceding just 18 runs from his four overs. Wanindu Hasranga and David Willey also picked up one wicket each.
Bangalore started their chase on a great note. The openers Faf Du Plessis and and Anuj Rawat gave them a great start. The duo put together a 55 runs opening partnership in 7 overs. Du Plessis was the first wicket to fall for Bangalore, when he was at a personal score of 29 from 20 deliveries. After this the Bangalore batting line up witnessed a mini collapse losing 3 wickets for 7 runs. Bangalore was looking down the ladder at 88 for 5 after 13 overs, when Dinesh Karthik produced magic against the experienced Ravichandran Ashwin. 21 runs came of the 14th over of the innings and the match seemed to change colors. Dinesh Karthik looked a man from another planet as he kept smashing Rajasthan bowlers to all parts of the park. He found an ideal partner in Shabaz Ahmed. In the period between over numbers 14-16, the duo scored 50 runs at a run rate of 16.66. This completely put the match in Bangalore’s pocket. Though Trent Boult picked up Shabaz Ahmed, but it was a bit too late. Ahmed scored 45 off 26 deliveries. But Dinseh Karthik stayed till the end scoring 44 runs off 23 deliveries and took his team to victory. Bangalore won the match by 6 wickets with 5 balls remaining. This Bangalore’s second win the tournament from three matches, while Rajasthan faced defeat for the first time in the Indian T20 League 2022.

So much class here from DK. So much. Hate say it, but India needs this finisher – a role that RCB have used him well in.
We need him, not just for entertainment but knowing that having him in the dugout means any target looks possible. #RRvsRCB

Worst captaincy by @IamSanjuSamson would have gone with prasidh and chahal #RRvsRCB #IPL2022

Ok. I appreciate Jos, Yuzi and Shimron! You all did great but it wasn't enough sadly. We'll come bounce back better. #HallaBol @rajasthanroyals #RRvsRCB

Worst captaincy by Samson. When wickets were falling at one end should have continued with spinners instead went for fast bowlers. #RRvsRCB

This was a special innings from the uncapped Shahbaz Ahmed. And Dinesh Karthik continues to live up to his finishers role for RCB.

These little gems from DK… Keeps inventing his own cheeky angles on the field. Geometry lessons with the bat and ball instead of a compass and protractor #RRvsRCB
