Watch: Afghan player perfectly emulates MS Dhoni’s helicopter shot in PSL
In a game between Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United of PSL 2022, Rahmanullah Gurbaz hit the iconic helicopter shot. He became the second Afghan player to hit a helicopter shot this season after Rashid Khan hit in their first match.
Gurbaz produced this shot in the 15th over of the second innings, when chasing Zalmi’s 169. This shot came against pacer Sohail Khan as the ball flew over deep mid-wicket for a huge six.

When Islamabad United needed 25 runs to win in 34 balls, Gurbaz hit this shot to Sohail. The pacer was hit for consecutive sixes and a four in three balls.
Batting first, Peshawar Zalmi only had a few runs on the board until Sherfane Rutherford came into bat. He hit 70 runs in 46 balls at a strike rate over 150. Rutherford helped Peshawar get to a reputable total of 168 in their 20 overs. Faheem Ashraf and Hasan Ali had 2 wickets each in this innings, while Mohammed Wasim jr. and captain Shadab Khan had one wicket each.
Paul Stirling and Alex Hales gave Islamabad a perfect start, scoring half-centuries each. Stirling took the charge and was scoring at a very high strike rate. Alex Hales was the anchor at the other end, and he played more grounded shots. After Stirling fell, Rahmanullah Gurbaz walked in to bat and continued batting the same.
He scored at a strike rate close to 170 and finished the game in the 16th over itself. Islamabad United won the match by 9 wickets. Paul Stirling was awarded man of the match for his 57 in 27 balls. They currently stand 2nd in the points table.
