Watch: Babar Azam shuts down ‘misbehaving’ journalist

Pakistan managed to avoid a series defeat at home for the first time after a long time. Since March last year, the Asian side has lost to Australia and England at home. In the recent series against New Zealand, both games ended in a draw. Overall, Pakistan has drawn four games in the last 10 months. Also, they only won one game, and that too in Sri Lanka.

All of this has become one of the major reasons for fans and media in Pakistan asking for Babar Azam‘s removal as captain. Meanwhile, a journalist decided to cross the line with the Pakistan skipper. During the post-match conference for the second Test against New Zealand, a journalist rudely asked whether his days of favoring ‘his friends’ in the playing XI are over and if will he be removed from the captaincy.

Kuch log keh rahe hai aapki team pe grip kamzor hoti ja rahi hai. Dosti yaari ka silsila Pakistan team mein khata ho rahi hai. (Some people are saying that your grip over the team is getting weaker and your friendships are getting over in the Pakistan Cricket team)”, the journalist began.

Babar interrupted, “Which friends?”

After this, the journalist replied by mentioning Shadab Khan’s removal from the ODI team. Notably, Shahid Afridi, the interim chief selector recently mentioned that Khan has recovered from his finger injury. In his place, Shan Masood has been named as vice-captain.

“Since Shahid Afridi came, he has changed the vice-captaincy in ODIs, with Shan Masood coming in to fill in the role. Now it’s being said that even Test captaincy will be snatched away from you soon?”

In reply, the right-hander shut down the journalist by saying that the latter would know who will become the next skipper of Pakistan.

“Sir, you will only be knowing to whom is the captaincy going. I don’t care about this. My work is to perform in the field and make my team also perform.”
