In 1992 former Pakistan skipper Imran Khan was having a last hurrah in his international during the ODI World Cup. He was around 39 years old at the time and was looking to bid adieu to the game. Khan had a dream of winning the World Cup before his farewell. However, the going wasn’t easy as the team didn’t start well. At one stage, they looked like the team would bow out.

However, the team turned around and went on to create history. After the glory, Khan decided to bid adieu with great memories. After retiring, he changed his career and got himself into politics. Years after doing the hard yards in politics, he became the Prime Minister of his country in 2018. Currently, he has been ousted from his position after the no-confidence motion against him.

Meanwhile, 30 years after the glory, Babar Azam has also led the team out of misery to the final of the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022. In the first two games against India and Zimbabwe, the team lost by small margins. After this, it looked like the team will get knocked out. However, after winning three back-to-back games and having a stroke of luck. Pakistan reached the semis. In the semis, they have beaten New Zealand to reach the semis.

Notably, 30 years ago, they beat the Kiwis to reach the final. Meanwhile, after Pakistan’s win on November 9, former India skipper Sunil Gavaskar quipped that if the Green Brigade wins the World Cup, Babar Azam might become the prime minister of his nation in future.
