Watch: Ishan Kishan’s tactics prove fruitful as Umran Malik picks a wicket next over
In the second T20I between India and Sri Lanka, Ishan Kishan did an MS Dhoni as he was heard suggesting tactics. In the ninth over of the Lankan innings, the wicketkeeper batter was heard asking Hardik Pandya to bring in Umran Malik in the next over. Notably, at the time, Bhanuka Rajapaksa was about to face his first ball of the game.
Yuzvendra Chahal had just trapped Kusal Mendis (52). Kishan, who was keeping the wickets, was heard saying that Rajapaksa is weak on the back of a length delivery on pace. The advice proved fruitful as Malik came in and bowled the same length with pace. As it turned out, Bhanuka chopped the ball on the stumps as his bat came in late on the white Kookaburra.

Talking about the game, another game of the series turned out to be a thriller. The first game was won by India by just two runs. Meanwhile, in the second game, the Men In Blue won the toss and elected to bowl first. However, the decision proved drastic for the first eight overs as the visitors amassed 80/0. Kusal Mendis took on the Indian bowling as he scored a fifty.
Not to forget, Indian bowlers, particularly, Arshdeep Singh bowled three consecutive no-balls in the second over. Mendis scored 52 off 31 balls three fours and four sixes. After his wicket, the Hardik Pandya-led side asserted some control as they picked six wickets for 138 runs. However, skipper Dasun Shanaka’s 56 off 22 balls ensured the team reached 206/6 at the end of the innings.
In reply, the home team had a horrific start as they lost five wickets for 57 runs. However, just like the Lankan Lions made a spectacular comeback in the first game after losing five for 68, the Indians did the same. The likes of Suryakumar Yadav and Axar Patel scored the fifties each and took the game close. However, their effort went in vain as Sri Lanka won the game by 16 runs.
