Marcus Rashford had the early say when he rifled home a shot from outside of the box. The 8th-minute strike left the home side supporters quiet as the Red Devils erupted with joy. The strike from the 26-year-old will also quieten his detractors who have been questioning his commitment.

The entire sequence of events began when Andre Onana saw Bruno Fernandes make a run. United’s goalkeeper kicked the ball upfield as Fernandes controlled the ball well. Marcus Rashford found himself free got the ball in his path and took a shot. Ederson had no chance as the ball was hit with such force that even a dive didn’t work.

Marcus Rashford steals the show –

Erik Ten Hag is currently overseeing his 100th game as boss of Manchester United. The occasion was made special thanks to Marcus Rashford who is playing as a striker. The 8th-minute wonder goal has given the Reds an early advantage against their cross-town rivals.

Coming into the game, Manchester United were in immense pressure. The 20-time champions had lost their last league game to Fulham. This was followed by a close 1-0 win away against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup.

That win has earned Erik Ten Hag and his side an FA Cup quarter-final game against Liverpool. A win over the defending Premier League winners will do a lot of good for the Reds with 11 games left.

Manchester City on the other need to win to keep the pressure on Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp. After falling behind the Citizens mounted attack after attack on the United back line. Rafael Varane, Diogo Dalot, and Victor Lindelof held their lines well while Jonny Evans gave good support.

Erling Haaland had the best chance of the first half to help City pull level. The Norwegian had to head the ball into an open net. For some reason, Haaland tried to use his foot and missed the biggest chance of the half.
