Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni was seen limping in the recent video posted by the franchise on their social media. Dhoni was nursing a knee injury, as revealed by CSK head coach Stephen Fleming at the post-match press conference after their match against Rajasthan Royals at the M.A. Chidambaram stadium on April 12th.

Despite the injury, the CSK skipper played a quickfire knock of 32 runs off 17 balls in a chase of 176 runs against RR. However, he failed to take his team over the line as Sandeep Sharma bowled a perfect ball on the final delivery of the match, leading RR to a thrilling 3-run victory.

Fleming confirmed the injury, which could be a scare to CSK, who are already dealing with the injuries of the players like Deepak Chahar and Ben Stokes, while Mukesh Choudhary and Kyle Jamieson have already been ruled out of the ongoing season.

“He is nursing a knee injury, which you can see in some of his movements. It’s hindering him somewhat. His fitness has always been very professional. He comes a month before the tournament starts. He’s a great player. We have never doubts over him. He’s just amazing,” said Fleming in his post-match press conference.

CSK lost their last game to RR by 3 runs

However, it is not confirmed yet whether Dhoni will be appearing or not in CSK’s next fixture against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 17th.

Talking about the match, batting first, RR posted a total of 175 runs for the loss of 8 wickets, powered by a half-century by Jos Buttler, who got out after scoring 52 runs off 36 balls with one four and three sixes. While Devdutt Padikkal,(38 off 26) Ravichandran Ashwin (30 off 22) and Shimron Hetmyer (30 off 18) also played some handy knocks.

Chasing the winning total, Devon Conway scored 50 runs off 38 hitting six boundaries. Conway added 68 runs with Ajinkya Rahane (31 off 19) for the second wicket. After that, CSK started losing wickets at regular intervals and was reduced to 113 for 6 after 15 overs. After that, Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja put up an unbeaten partnership of 59 runs but fell short of RR’s total by just 3 runs as they scored 172 runs for the loss of 6 wickets.
