The 10th game of the Caribbean Premier League season saw Barbados Royals taking on Saint Kitts and Nevis Patriots. The game was a high-scoring encounter as Barbados Royals won the game. Rovman Powell led his side to their 1st win of the season as the Patriots stayed winless after 5 games.

Barbados captain, Rovman Powell won the toss and chose to bowl first. It turned out a good toss to win as Powell wasn’t sure of the right total on the small ground. Alick Athanaze and Roloef Van Der Merwe came in for the visiting Barbados side.

Cornwall creams four sixes to give Barbados a flying start –

Chasing 198 to win, Barbados Royals opened with their dynamic duo of Rahkeem Cornwall and Kyle Mayers. The pair added 58 runs for the first wicket in just four overs before Cornwall was dismissed by Dominic Drakes.

Cornwall scored 38 runs from 15 deliveries with the help of three fours and 4 massive sixes. The burly right-handed batter began the assault with a six against Ashmead Nedd. Cornwall then hit Colin Bosch for two more sixes. The final six was the highlight of the night against the quick Oshane Thomas.

Andre Fletcher gives the Patriots a rousing start –

Put into bat first, Andre Fletcher opened with Captain Evin Lewis. The bulk of the scoring in the 42-run opening stand was done by Fletcher. Lewis was the first to go when he fell for 8 to the Mayers and Cornwall combine. Joshua Da Silva was run out for 5 to leave the Patriots at 56/2.

Sherfane Rutherford then added 39 runs with Fletcher for the 3rd wicket before Rutherford was out for 28. From 95/3 it was soon 99/4 when Fletcher was trapped in front of the wicket by Qais Ahmed for 51. The opener scored his runs in 38 balls with the help of 5 fours and 3 sixes.

Ambati Rayudu was out for 15, to leave the home side at 143/6 in 17.2 overs. Dominic Drakes and Corbin Bosch then added 54 runs for the 7th wicket in just 16 balls. Drakes was not out on 20 off 14 balls with a four and a six. Bosch scored 38 in just 12 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes.

Rovman Powell fires his side to their first win of the season –

After the electric start to the innings and the dismissal of Cornwall, the assault continued thanks to Mayers. The left-handed batter was soon out for 31 off 17 with 4 fours and a six. Jason Holder (24) and Athanaze (30) continued the momentum.

Captain Rovman Powell then took over as he scored an unbeaten 67 off a mere 29 balls with 5 fours and 5 sixes. This brutal knock saw Barbados win the game with 9 balls and 6 wickets to spare.
