Former New Zealand Simon Doull wasn’t impressed with the way Royal Challengers Bangalore batter Virat Kohli batted in the match against Lucknow Super Giants at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium on Monday. The 34-year-old laid the foundation for a big total along with the skipper Faf du Plessis as both the openers added 96 runs for the first wicket.

Kohli got out in the 12th over after scoring 61 runs off 44 balls with four fours and six sixes. He was looking in good touch from the start as he reached 42 runs in 25 balls. However, it took Kohli 10 balls to score the remaining 8 runs to get to his half-century. Doull was not happy with the approach by the RCB batter as he said that Kohli was more concerned about his ‘personal milestone.’

“Virat Kohli started off like a train. He was hammering shots. But from 42 to 50, he took 10 balls. He’s concerned about his personal milestone. I don’t think there’s room for that in this game anymore. You’ve just got to keep going especially with wickets in hand at that stage. You’ve got to keep going,” Doull said during his commentary stint after Kohli got out.

Marcus Stoinis and Nicolas Pooran turned the match toward LSG

Apart from Kohli, Glenn Maxwell got out after scoring 59 off 29 and Du Plessis remained unbeaten on 79 runs from 46 balls as RCB posted a total of 212 runs for the loss of 2 wickets. However, RCB failed to defend the total as LSG chased the target in the last of the match to get a thrilling victory.

LSG lost 3 wickets for 23 runs. After that Marcus Stoinis took charge and got out after smashing 65 runs off 30 balls. After Stoinis’ wicket, Nicolas Pooran went on to score the second-fastest in IPL history in just 15 balls as LSG got closer to the RCB’s total. Pooran got out after smashing 62 runs off just 19 balls. The match went down to the last ball of the last over with 1 run required. After that, Avesh Khan and Ravi Bishnoi successfully completed a run to give LSG a memorable victory.
