Sunil Narine becomes the player to be shown the red card –

International football, hockey, and plenty of other sports have rules for violations. The red card is the ultimate as it ends his or her participation. Sunil Narine was shown the red –card in the final over of the Saint Kitts and Nevis Patriots batting innings.

The reason for the red card was that Trinbago Knight Riders were slow with their over-rate. As per the new rules in case the fielding team defaults on their over-rate they can be penalized. The rules further say that one player will be sent off and there will be just two players outside the 30-yard circle.

The final over of the innings saw Dwayne Bravo concede 18 runs from the final over. Sherfane Rutherford hit three fours and a six as he ended up with 62 not out. Sunil Narine was the leading wicket-taker with 3 wickets.

Kieron Pollard did not take lightly the penalty dished out to his player. At the end of the game, Trinbago Knight Riders skipper Kieron Pollard said “To be honest, it will take away the hard work everyone has done. We are like the pawns and we are going to do what we are told. We are going to play as fast as we can. If you are penalized for 30-45 seconds in a tournament like this, it is ridiculous”

Speaking about the game, Saint Kitts and Nevis Patriots scored 178 from their 20 overs. Sherfane Rutherford’s 62 was the top score for the home team. Chasing 179 to win, Nicolas Pooran scored a half-century. Pollard then hit four sixes in an over Knight Rider won the game.
