Sunday evening saw Match number 12 for the Caribbean Premier League 2023 season. The game saw Saint Kitts and Nevis Patriots and Trinbago Knight Riders lock horns. Saint Kitts and Nevis team had 5 games previously losing all the matches. Kieron Pollard led Trinbago Knight Riders meanwhile were playing their third game of the season. Knight Riders had seen their first game get washed out due to rain. The 2nd game saw Saint Lucia Kings beat Knight Riders by a whopping 84 runs. Knight Riders won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Trinbago Knight Riders needed 59 runs from 6 overs with Lorcan Tucker and Kieron Pollard together. The first ball saw the Irish batter take a single to give Pollard the strike. The Knight Riders deposited the 2nd ball of the over for a 101-meter six.

The third ball was a no-ball followed by a free hit which fetched 2 runs. Izharulhaq Naveed then was smashed for a gigantic six which traveled 107 meters. This was followed by another six which went for another 102-meter monster hit.

More misery awaited Naveed when he was hit for a 95-meter six to end the over. The Knight Riders had hit 28 runs in the single over to knock the wind out of the opposition’s sails.

Put into bat first, Andre Fletcher continued his good form with the bat. The opener scored 32 off 17 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes. Fletcher and Evin Lewis added 43 for the opening wicket. Lewis was out for 10, as Joshua Da Silva fell for 18 and Jyd Goolie was out for 11. From 43/0 it was soon 86/4 in the 12th over of the game.

Sherfane Rutherford helps the Patriots reach 178 –

Sherfane Rutherford and Corbin Bosch added 66 runs for the 5th wicket in 40 balls. Rutherford top scored with 62 off 38 balls with 4 fours and 5 sixes. Bosch was out for 30 off 21 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes. Sunil Narine picked 3 wickets while Dwayne Bravo picked 2 wickets.

Chasing 179 to win, Knight Riders were 32 for 2 in the 5th over. Chadwick Walton was out for 6 and Kiwi batter Guptill was out for 7. Nicolas Pooran who has been in good form in T20 again showed his class. Pooran and Tucker added 73 for the third wicket in 44 balls. Pooran was the top scorer with 61 off 32 balls with 5 fours and 4 sixes. Once Pooran fell, it was the pair of Tucker and Pollard who took the game forward. Tucker was out for 36 off 31 balls with 3 fours and a six. Pollard was not out on 37 with 5 sixes, while Andre Russell was not out on 23. Knight Riders won the game with 6 wickets and 17 balls to spare.
