‘We will work with the government’ – Arun Dhumal assures IPL 2024 to happen in India

IPL to start in March!

Arun Dhumal, the chairman of the IPL, has stated that the 2024 tournament will remain in India. There was talk that some of the IPL 2024 will be held outside of India due to the dates of the Lok Sabha Elections and the Indian Premier League. The entire competition will remain in India, though, according to the chairman. To verify the IPL 2024 schedule, the Indian board is still awaiting the poll dates.

“We will work with the Indian government, and agencies to make sure that the league takes place in India. We are waiting for the schedule of the general election to be announced and then we will plan accordingly…like which state will host what game at the time of election will be planned that way,” says Dhumal.

The Chairman didn’t reveal the IPL start date. However, it’s confirmed that the tournament will start in March-end after the competition of the Women’s Premier League. The dates aren’t confirmed yet due to the election dates. Once that will be released, the authorities will announce the IPL dates. As fans are eagerly waiting for the tournament dates, chairman Dhumal just hinted towards March-end.

‘It mandatory to play 3-4 Ranji Trophy games’ – Officials on players leaving International matches

The officials are about to make playing Ranji trophy matches mandatory for players to participate in the IPL. This change has come because of keeper-batter, Ishan Kishan who hasn’t played any International or domestic matches in the past few months. However, he has been actively practising with the Pandya brothers in Baroda.

An official said, “To rein in such players, the board in all likelihood will make it mandatory to play 3-4 Ranji Trophy games, failing which, they can’t play IPL or even appear in IPL auction if released by their franchise. The state units feel unless the diktat comes from the top of BCCI, some of the young stars will treat the Ranji Trophy with disdain.”
