The India Cricket Team has been dealing with injuries to multiple players in the last few months. Players such as Deepak Chahar, Washington Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Sen, etc have gotten injured this year. After the second ODI against Bangladesh, India skipper Rohit Sharma raised concern about the players’ injuries. He said that half-fit players are playing for the team.

In reply to this, former India all-rounder, Madan Lal has reacted strongly to this. He started by saying that it is a sad thing to see ‘half-fit’ players playing for India. The 1983 World Cup winner also raised questions about who is responsible for the entire mess. He added that if the players want to take a rest, they can do it during the Indian T20 League.

“It is a very sad thing. If the captain is saying this then something is wrong somewhere. Who is responsible for this? Are trainers responsible for this? Why are unfit players going? You are playing international cricket and the result is in front of you. If they want to take rest, they can take rest during ITL matches. Your country comes first. If you are not going to win World Championships, your nation’s cricket is going to go down.”

The passion to play for the county is missing in players: Madan Lal

The former India cricketer further added that the team is not going in the right direction. He also said that the team’s intensity is missing, could be because of the players are either tired or going through the motions.

“Definitely the Indian team is not going in the right direction. I have not seen the intensity in the team off late. I have not seen ‘Josh’ in them in the last couple of years. They are not looking like an Indian team at all. That passion of playing for the country is missing. Either their bodies are too tired or they are just going through the motions. And this is a serious concern,” he mentioned.
