Recently, ACC president and Indian Cricket Board secretary, Jay Shah has announced that Asia Cup 2023 can be moved out of Pakistan. He was clear on the point of India Cricket Team traveling to Pakistan. For the unversed, Pakistan is currently the host of the Men’s Asia Cup in September next year. Meanwhile, Shah’s statements reportedly haven’t gone down well with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

One of the official from the board said that they are ready to take hard decisions. He pointed out that financial losses the World Cricket Governing Council and the ACC has to face if they pull out of the next year’s ODI World Cup and ACC membership. PCB official further said that they will take the matter to the appropriate platforms. He also expressed his shock over the decision from Shah.

“The PCB is now prepared to take hard decisions and play hard ball because it is also aware that the ICC and ACC events will have to face commercial liabilities and losses if Pakistan does not play India in these multi-team events,” a senior PCB source told PTI on the condition of anonymity.

“We have nothing to say at the moment, but yes, we will look at things and take up this matter at appropriate forums like the World Cricket Governing Council board meeting in Melbourne next month,” a spokesperson said.

“The PCB officials are surprised at the timing of Jay Shah’s statement because there is still nearly a year to go before the Asia Cup is held in Pakistan in September 2023,” an insider said.

World Cricket Governing Council will face huge financial losses if Pakistan pulls out of 2023 ODI World Cup

For the unversed, the World Cricket Governing Council has always earned around 25 percent of a total World Championship revenue through India-Pakistan games. In the 2007 ODI World Cup, both teams crashed out in the first round before they could lock horns. The Cricket Governing Council faced huge losses during the tournament majorly because of this.
