WWE: 5 Character gimmicks that were stretched beyond their welcome
Omos
Omos is a fascinating spectacle at 7’3″ and 403 pounds, as evidenced by how tall he currently is when compared to someone like Brock Lesnar. Fans expect more from a huge character, though. For Big Show, having a big personality wasn’t enough (remember all the subtle character changes he had?). Omos can’t have it both ways, even at this early career stage. The relationship with MVP benefited. However, failing to defeat notable opponents (Dolph Ziggler and Mustafa Ali don’t count) also doesn’t help.
To be fair to Omos, he is still inexperienced and is in a difficult position to leave the industry. Let’s hope that tidbits of what fans have witnessed and a high-profile confrontation with Lesnar at WWE WrestleMania can make the background drama as compelling as the action on the mat.
