‘Ye Team Kia kar rahi hai yaar’ – Fans tear apart Pakistan post their humbling loss against England in third Test
England and Pakistan faced off against each other in the third Test of the three-match contest that kicked off on December 17, Saturday and much to the dreariness of the Pakistani fans, it was the Three Lions who won the game yet again, eventually clinching the series 0-3. Whitewashing Pakistan in their own backyard, England made a statement ahead of the much-anticipated Ashes.
To add more to the match, it was Pakistan who batted first in the match and eventually put on 304 runs on the board in their first innings on the back of their skipper’s great-hearted 78 and Agha Salman’s 56. The Three Lions on the other hand, made a stunning comeback with the bat and scored 354 in their first innings with the help of Harry Brook’s 111 and Ben Foakes’ 64.
Nauman Ali and Abrar Ahmed starred with the ball for Pakistan during England’s first innings, eventually restricting them from causing further damage. It looked like Babar and his men were staring at a humiliating series defeat and a whitewash, given that the Pakistani men are known for their might at home.
England crush Pakistan in third Test
The Three Lions restricted Pakistan to 216 runs in their second innings, eventually being forced to chase a target of 167 runs to whitewash the mighty Pakistani men. Much to the delight of the English fans, it was the debutant Rehan Ahmed who starred with the ball in the second innings with his five-for.
England got off to a fiery start in their second innings as they chased down a decent target, eventually proving their ‘Bazzball’ style of play yet again. While Zak Crawley made his way back to the dressing for a run-a-ball 41, Ben Duckett and Ben Stokes remained unbeaten at the end of the chase at 78-ball 82 and 35 respectively as England won the game with 8 wickets to spare.
The Three Lions would be extremely happy with the win, given that they were in a worse state when Brendon McCullum took over as the coach of the team. The Stokes-McCullum era is cementing a new brand for themselves, which seems to be working, be it at home or away.
As things stand, let us take a look at a few Twitter reactions to the third Test between Pakistan and England:
