‘Ye waali team pehle kidhar thi bhai’ – Fans react as Pakistan hammer Bangladesh by 7 wickets in ODI World Cup 2023
Pakistan has finally registered a win after a series of losses in the ongoing ODI World Cup 2023. The men in green overcame the challenge of Bangladesh pretty easily, as they beat the 2015 quarterfinalists by 7 wickets in Eden Gardens. It was a game dominated totally by Pakistan in all facets of the game. Bangladesh had no answer to the quality of Pakistan.
On a dry surface, Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and elected to first. Their batters did not prove his decision right, as they lost wickets early in the game. Shaheen Afridi was on fire with the new ball. The left-arm pacer bowled in good channel and claimed his rewards. In the process, he became the fastest pacer to claim 100 wickets in ODIs.
At the other end, Haris Rauf and Mohammad Wasim Jr assisted the leader of the attack well. While Rauf claimed 2 wickets, Wasim Jr claimed 3 wickets. For Bangladesh, Mahmudullah scored fifty. Litton Das scored 45 runs and Shakib scored 43 runs. Other batters could not make an impact with the bat which led to a below-par total from Bangladesh. In their first innings, Bangladesh managed to get only 204 runs.
Pakistan’s opening duo ensure an easy run chase against Bangladesh
The total was not threatening enough to challenge Pakistan. The opening duo of Pakistan took the game away from Bangladesh right from the start. Fakhar Zaman on his return played a fine hand. The Southpaw hit some massive sixes and entertained the crowd. In his stay in the middle, Zaman scored 81 runs in 74 balls, which included 2 fours and 7 monstrous sixes.
At the other end, Abdullah Shafique was good too. The youngster was impressive yet again, as he scored 68 runs in 69 balls, which included 9 fours and 2 sixes. Bangladesh bowlers had no answers to the batting pair of Pakistan. By the time Mehidy Hasan got the wickets of the duo, and that of Babar Azam, things had already gone out of Bangladesh’s reach. In the end, Pakistan registered an easy win by 7 wickets with 17.3 overs to spare. It was Pakistan’s first win after 4 losses in a row.

Fakhar Zaman came and made the difference and Babar’s contribution with the bat is exceptional by getting early out to improve the NRR.😂
