Amol Mazumdar is known as one of the highest run-scorers in Ranji seasons as he smashed 11,167 runs at an average of 48.13 in 171 first-class games. But, he also got neglected in India due to the presence of the “Fab Four”.
According to fans, Amol Mazumdar was unlucky not to get a chance to represent India. In the absence of Sanjay Manjrekar, Vinod Kambli, and Sachin Tendulkar for Mumbai, Amol made his debut and scored a brilliant 260 against Haryana in the 1993/94 Ranji Trophy pre-quarterfinal game.
