Yash Dhull achieves historic feat on Ranji debut, becomes only the third player to do so
Yash Dhull has been trending for quite a while now. After leading India to the U19 World Cup title earlier this month, the youngster has managed to grab the headlines. Besides, he even bagged an Indian T20 league contract as well.
During the mega auction, Delhi were able to acquire his services for INR 50 lakh. However, his recent performance in the ongoing Ranji Trophy has been sensational, to say the least. While making his Ranji debut for Gujrat, the 19-year-old went on to create history.
He became just the third cricketer to hit centuries in each innings on Ranji Trophy debut. It came against Tamil Nadu. It is to be noted that Nari Contractor and Virag Awate were the first and second players to achieve this feat respectively.
After being asked to bat first by the opposition, the Sangwan-led side lost a few early wickets. However, Dhull showed immense temperament, and went on to score an amazing 113. His knock ensured that Gujrat don’t have a batting collapse. At the end of the first innings, Gujrat scored 452. Lalit Yadav scored an amazing 177 as well.
During the second innings, the Shankar-led side put up an awesome performance, and scored 494. As far as the third innings is concerned, Dhull and Shorey joined forces and put on a 228-run partnership. In the process, the teenager got to a century once again.
His spirited performance in both innings ensured that his side manage to draw the match. Several fans on Twitter appreciated him for creating history, and had heaps of praises for him. A few users felt that he could go on to be the future of Indian cricket as well. Thus, it will be exciting to see how he fares during the rest of the tournament.
At 19 years 101 days, Yash Dhull is the third youngest player to score hundred in each innings of a Ranji match after Ambati Rayudu and Nari Contractor.
He is also only the third player to score twin hundreds on Ranji debut after Contractor & Virag Awate.#RanjiTrophy #YashDhull

Delhi's Yash Dhull has added another feather to his cap! He has now become the only third batsman to make a century in each innings (113 & 100*) on #RanjiTrophy debut after Nari Contractor (152 & 102*) for Gujarat in 1952/53 & Virag Awate (126 & 112) for Maharashtra in 2012/13.
