The 22nd match of the ODI World Cup 2023 is being played in Chennai. The game is witnessing Afghanistan and Pakistan play their fifth of the tournament. Defending 283 run score the Pakistan Cricket Team displayed bad fielding which left the team frustrated.

Babar Azam won the toss and chose to bat first as Shadab Khan replaced Mohammad Nawaz. The Afghanistan team also made one change as Noor Ahmed came into the team to make his ODI World Cup debut.

Pakistan came into the game after losing their last two matches to India and Australia. Afghanistan had lost their last game to New Zealand in the same venue by a massive 149-run margin.

Pakistani fielding a huge letdown –

After scoring 282 runs on the board it was expected that the Pakistan Cricket team would come with enthusiasm. Shaheen Shah Afridi and Hasan Ali opened the bowling to Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran.

What followed was the most pathetic fielding by the men in green. The boundary riders were pushing them over the ropes for boundaries. There were needless overthrows going the way of the Afghan batters. One such incident saw the Afghan run two runs where there was just one single on offer.

Imam Ul Haq fell early after scoring 17 runs and adding 56 runs for the opening wicket. Abdullah Shafique continued his good run of form as he scored yet another half-century. The right-handed batter was out for 58 runs from 75 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes.

Babar Azam got to his second half-century of the ODI World Cup 2023 tournament. The Pakistani skipper scored 74 runs from 92 balls with 4 fours and a six in his knock. Just when it seemed Babar Azam would get to his century he was sent back by Noor Ahmed caught by Nabi.

Shadab Khan and Iftikhar Ahmed then swung the bat to help Pakistan reach 282 runs on the board. 25-year-old Shadab Khan scored 40 runs from 38 balls with a four and a six. Iftikhar Ahmed on the other hand scored 40 off 27 balls with 2 fours and 4 sixes. Noor Ahmed led the bowling charts with 3 for 49 while Naveen Ul Haq picked two wickets.
