‘Aisi growth ka kya fayda ki bench pe baithna pade’ – Fans react as Yuzvendra Chahal credits Sanju Samson for growth in his bowling
Star India leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has been phenomenal in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2023. He is being consistent and reliable for the Rajasthan Royals as he has clinched 12 wickets in seven matches. Notably, in IPL 2022, Chahal was the leading wicket-taker with 27 scalps in 16 games. He has been phenomenal throughout his career for both franchises and the Indian team.
Meanwhile, in a recent interview, Chahal was quizzed about his favourite skipper to play under. Notably, Chahal has played under top captains like MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Sanju Samson across the format. However, answering this question, the spinner shocked everyone by picking Samson over others. He also drew a parallel between Samson and MS Dhoni and gave him credit for his amazing performance.
In an interaction with Humans of Bombay, Chahal shocked everyone by picking up Samson. He said that Samson has given him the freedom he required and helped him to grow as a bowler in the last few months.
“In IPL, Sanju Samson is my favourite. I feel like he is very similar to Mahi bhai as like him, he is very calm and chill. The 10 per cent or whatever growth I have had as a bowler in the last year, is all because of Sanju. He told me, ‘You have four overs, bowl whatever you want to, you are free from my side”, the Indian leggie said.
Yuzvendra Chahal will face RCB on Sunday
Notably, Yuzvendra Chahal will be playing for Rajasthan Royals in their upcoming game against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Playing against his former team, Chahal will be looking to continue his magic. Notably, in the last game when Chahal played against RCB, he clinched two wickets at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai.
Apart from Chahal, this IPL season has been amazing for Indian bowlers. Out of the top 10 bowlers with the most wickets in the ongoing season, eight are Indians. Pacer Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Siraj are leading the table with 13 wickets each. Meanwhile, Mohammed Shami and Tushar Deshpande have clinched 10 wickets each. Ace spinner Piyush Chawla and Ravindra Jadeja have clinched 9 wickets each too.
