The Hyderabad franchise locked horns against the Rajasthan side in the fourth encounter of the 16th edition of the Indian T20 League on Sunday at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. The skipper of the home team, Bhuvneshwar Kumar won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Batting first, the Rajasthan franchise openers Jos Buttler and Yashashvi Jaiswal destroyed the Hyderabad bowling in the powerplay as they both together put on 85 runs in just 35 balls before Afghanistan seamer Fazalhaq Farooqi cleaned up the English skipper. Before going back to the pavilion, the 32-year-old scored a quickfire knock of 54 runs off just 22 balls. Rajasthan skipper Samson also scored important 55 runs off 32 balls with three fours and four sixes.

For the hosts, the pick of the bowlers were Afghanistan’s 22-year-old speedster and India’s left-arm pacer T Natarajan, who snapped two wickets each in their respective spells of four overs and three overs, respectively. While on one side, the Afghan fast bowler conceded 41 runs, on the other hand, 31-year-old conceded only 23 runs. One wicket was grabbed by Jammu and Kashmir fast bowler, Umran Malik, who bowled the young India batter, Devdutt Paddikal, with a ripper. The speed of that bowl was over 149 kmph.

Rajasthan finished their innings at a score of 203 runs for the loss of five wickets and set a target of 204 for the Hyderabad franchise to chase. While chasing a mammoth total of 204 runs, the hosts lost the first two wickets of opener Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi in the first over without opening the team’s account, courtesy of a sensational spell from Trent Boult. After the end of the powerplay of six overs, star England batter Harry Brook was batting on 10 runs and former Punjab franchise skipper Mayank Aggarwal was on 20 runs. However, the duo didn’t stay too long either.

In their 20 overs, Hyderabad were able to score only 131 runs. The highest scorer for them was their impact player, Abdul Samad, who scored unbeaten 32 runs from as many balls with two fours and a six. Mayank Aggarwal, Adil Rashid, and Umran Malik were the only other players to score in double digits but that was not enough.

For the Rajasthan side, the pick of the bowlers was India’s veteran leg-spinner, Yuzvendra Chahal, who bagged four wickets in his spell of four overs and conceded just 17 runs in the spell. Two wickets were taken by Boult and 1 each by Ashwin and Holder.
