Days after Cristiano Ronaldo‘s explosive interview with Piers Morgan, he and his club Manchester United have parted ways. After a ‘mutually agreed’ termination of the contract, the 37-year-old is free to join any club after the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2022. He doesn’t have to wait for January’s window transfer. Meanwhile, the relationship between the two parties was strained after Ronaldo alleged team manager Erik Ten Hag of betrayal.

Meanwhile, in a statement issued by the Red Devils, they ‘thanked’ the Portuguese striker for his contribution to the team. Notably, this was Ronaldo’s second stint with the team. He played for the team for the first time in the late 2000s. Meanwhile, the team further said that they are focused on continuing their progress under Ten Hag.

“Cristiano Ronaldo is to leave Manchester United by mutual agreement, with immediate effect.

“The club thanks him for his immense contribution across two spells at Old Trafford, scoring 145 goals in 346 appearances, and wishes him and his family well for the future.

“Everyone at Manchester United remains focused on continuing the team’s progress under Erik ten Hag and working together to deliver success on the pitch.”

I love Manchester United and its fans: Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano simultaneously said that he and United have decided to terminate his contract. He added that he ‘loves’ the team and its fans and wishes for the team’s success in the future.

“Following conversations with Manchester United we have mutually agreed to end our contract early.

“I love Manchester United and I love the fans, that will never ever change. However, it feels like the right time for me to seek a new challenge.

“I wish the team every success for the remainder of the season and for the future.”

Currently, Ronaldo is preparing for his team’s first game of the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2022. They will play Ghana on November 24.
