“Dekho to security ki baat kon kar raha haI’ – Fans react as Pakistan likely to send their security team to check venues in India for the World Cup
There has been a lot of debate over the India-Pakistan clash in the upcoming ODI World Cup, which is scheduled to be hosted by India later in the year. Reportedly, Pakistan are likely to send their security team to India ahead of the World Cup, to check the venues that are scheduled to host matches in the tournament to ensure the safety of their players.
This is not the first time that Pakistan are concerned over the safety of their players while travelling to India. When last time Pakistan Cricket Team came to India for the 20-20 World Cup in 2016, their security team requested the Apex Cricket Council to change the venue for their match against India from Dharamshala to Kolkata.
However, it is still not confirmed whether the Pakistan Cricket team will travel to India for the World Cup. Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Najam Sethi has already said that they will not send their team to participate in the tournament if their matches don’t take place in a neutral venue.
“Pakistan will not travel to India for the World Cup, we want our World Cup matches to be played at a neutral venue only,” the PCB chairman told Sports Tak.
There are no security issues: Najam Sethi
It is noted that the Indian Cricket Board has already said that it will not send its team to Pakistan for the Asia Cup. After that, there have been several meetings held regarding this issue. First, it was decided that India will play their matches at a neutral, while the rest of the tournament will be played in Pakistan. However, India later proposed to withdraw the whole tournament from the country. There are also rumours that the tournament can be hosted by the defending Champions Sri Lanka. The PCB chairman further disclosed that during their meeting in Bahrain earlier this year, the members of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), which included both India and Pakistan, had discussed the idea of a hybrid model.
“There are no security issues. We can play a couple of matches against India and the rest of the teams’ matches can also be played in a neutral venue. We are ready for compromise. All or nothing is not what we want,” he said.
