‘Fir bhi trophy nhi aayi to’ – Fans react as RCB set to part ways with Mike Hesson and Sanjay Bangar
Sanjay Bangar, the head coach of Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mike Hesson are expected to part ways before the 2024 Indian Premiere League season. The Indian Express reports that a Bangalore-based company is searching for new backroom employees after deciding not to keep the current personnel. It is still unclear, though, If they will keep Adam Griffith as their bowling coach.
Hesson and Bangar have been a part of RCB for the past five years and are said to have great camaraderie with the star batter Virat Kohli. It is reported that the franchise is now keen to have someone who can bring new ideas that can help them win their maiden IPl trophy. However, it is yet to be decided whether RCB will go for a foreign Head Coach or an Indian to be at the helm of affairs.
“Their contract with RCB is still intact. The team is still under the process of review. We will come back if any announcement on the changes in the team,” RCB said in a statement.
Who will be the contenders to replace Hesson and Bangar in the RCB management?
Meanwhile, other franchises have already started finalising their coaching set-up. Lucknow Super Giants have appointed former Australian coach Justin Langer as their new head coach, replacing Andy Flower. While the former Zimbabwe skipper Flower is in talks with the other franchises to stay in the IPL at the helm of another team.
Notably, RCB have been a part of the IPL final three times in 2009, 2011, and 2016 but ended up being on the losing side on all three occasions. Since 2016, RCB have not been able to make it to the final and could not even qualify for the playoffs in the recent edition and ended in the fifth position in the points table, after losing their last league match of the season to Gujarat Titans.

After 2019 RCB is the only team to qualify 3 times out of 4 But they have removed the coach under whom they went on to qualify. Same goes for LSG but LSG has got a better option I believe but RCB will persist with Lord Malolan But can’t continue with a good coach.
