‘KGF ke bina RCB thap hai’ – Fans react as Royal Challengers Bangalore lose to Kolkata Knight Riders by 21 runs in IPL 2023
After winning the last two fixtures against Punjab Kings by 24 runs and against Rajasthan Royals by seven runs under the leadership of Virat Kohli, Royal Challenger Bangalore (RCB) locked horns against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, in Bangalore on Wednesday, April 26. Knight Riders won the match by 21 runs and Varun Chakravarthy was awarded the Player of the Match for his brilliant bowling performance.
If we talk about the encounter, the RCB‘s stand-in skipper, Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to ball first. Batting first, the visitors scored exactly 200 runs for the loss of five wickets after the completion of the first innings. The highest scorer for the side was star England opener, Jason Roy who scored 56 runs off 29 balls with five sixes and four fours. KKR skipper, Nitish Rana scored crucial 48 runs from 21 balls which included four sixes and three fours in his innings.
Kolkata Knight Riders bowlers guide their side to victory
The pick of the bowler for the home side was Wanindu Hasaranga and Vijaykumar Vyshak who snapped two wickets each in their spell of four overs where they conceded 24 runs 41 runs respectively in their spells. One wicket was grabbed by star India pacer, Mohammad Siraj who bagged one wicket in his spell of four overs where he conceded 33 runs in his spell.
While chasing a target of 201 runs, Bangalore scored 179 runs with the loss of eight wickets in their 20 overs. The highest scorer for the side was Kohli who scored 54 runs from 37 balls with six fours. Mahipal Lomror also played an important knock of 34 runs off 18 balls which included three sixes and a four.
For KKR, the pick of the bowler was Varun Chakravarthy, who scrapped three wickets in his spell of four overs where he conceded 27 runs in his spell. Two wickets each were taken by young Indian leg-spinner, Suyash Sharma and star West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell in their respective four overs where they conceded 30 runs and 29 runs in their spells.
