India won the first T20I against Australia by 2 wickets in Vishakhapatnam. The decision of Suryakumar Yadav to bowl first proved to be right, as the bowlers restricted Australia to a below-par total on a good batting surface. Despite the hundred from Josh Inglis, Australia ended up losing the match. India got a lead of 1-0 in the series with the win over Australia in the first match.

Batting first, Australia was reduced to 35/1 in the first 5 overs. In came Josh Inglis who took the attack on the Indian bowlers. Against Prasidh Krishna, Ravi Bishnoi, and Axar Patel, Inglis hit some massive sixes and entertained the audience with his batting. Steve Smith struggled to get going at the other end and did not help the cause of Australia. But Inglis looked in a fantastic touch.

In his stay in the middle, Inglis scored 100 runs in 50 balls, which came at a strike rate of 220.00. The knock of Inglis consisted of 11 fours and 8 sixes. Smith scored 52(41) from his end. With some finishing from Tim David and Marcus Stoinis, Australia got to a total of 208 runs on the board. It was about 10 runs below par on a good batting surface.

Suryakumar Yadav anchors the Indian run chase

Chasing the target, India lost the wicket of Ruturaj Gaikwad, who was dismissed for a diamond duck. Yashasvi Jaiswal scored a quickfire 21(8) and departed. Ishan Kishan struggled to get going early in the innings. After getting set, Kishan played a very good knock. In 39 balls, Kishan scored 58 runs, which included 2 fours and 5 sixes. Kishan was helped by Suryakumar, who looked at his usual best.

The Indian captain stole the show with his aggressive batting. The unorthodox batter scored 80 runs in 42 balls, batting mostly in the middle overs. The knock of Yadav included 9 fours and 4 sixes, which helped Kishan to get going from his end. In the end, Rinku Singh finished the innings well, despite Axar Patel struggling to score at the other end. The match was unnecessarily dragged to the last over. But Rinku and India had the last laugh towards the end.
