Lahore Qalandars celebrates PSL win at Wagah Border
Lahore Qalandar won their maiden Pakistan Super League title this season. It was the seventh edition of the tournament. After the team won the trophy, they decided on a trophy tour to visit the hometowns of all the players of the franchise.
The tour reached the Wagah border located between Amritsar and Lahore. On the occasion of the ‘daily flag ceremony’, the trophy was flexed in front of the people who came to watch the ceremony. It was later handed over to the rangers and the people present.
The occasion was graced by the presence of Lahore Qalandars’ CEO Atif Rana, Coach Aqib Javed, Deputy DG Rangers Brigadier Shehzad, and Deputy Commissioner of Lahore Captain R Usman. Shaheen Afridi’s hometown was from where the trophy tour started and continued to the hometowns of other players like Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Zaman Khan, etc. It was also taken to various colleges and universities in Lahore.

After a disappointing run from 2016 to 2019, Lahore came close to winning the title in 2020. But they were defeated by Karachi Kings that year in the finals. In 2021 again the franchise had a horrible time walking out of the tournament even before the playoffs. This year their trophy draught got over and they came up with this unique celebration. Notably, Lahore defeated the defending champions Multan Sultans.
The seventh edition of the Pakistan Super League was dominated by the Lahore Qalandars’ players in all aspects. The top scorer for the tournament was Fakhar Zaman with 588 runs from 13 matches. The highest wicket-taker of the tournament was also a player from the Lahore squad. It was Shaheen Afridi with 20 wickets from 13 matches. So, it was a clinical performance from the champions and the grand celebrations are worth the achievement.
