‘NZ se dar lagta hai ab to’ – Fans react to rise of New Zealand youngster Rachin Ravindra in ODI World Cup 2023
Rachin Ravindra has taken the ODI World Cup 2023 by storm with his batting performances in the tournament so far. The youngster is being appreciated by fans from all parts of the world. in the absence of Kane Williamson, New Zealand has unleashed a gem of a talent, who can bat in different positions in the lineup of New Zealand. Rachin can bowl as well.
So far in the tournament, Rachin has been very good with the bat. In the first practice match of New Zealand against Pakistan, Ravindra opened the innings for New Zealand and scored a brisk 97(72). Chasing a mammoth total of 346 runs, it set the tone for New Zealand in the run chase. Ravindra’s knock included 16 fours and a six. In the practice match against South Africa, Ravindra batted at number 8 and got to face only three balls.
Ravindra did not score a run against South Africa. Kane Williamson was ruled out of the match against England, which forced New Zealand to bat Ravindra at 3 against the defending champions. The Southpaw took the cricket world by storm with his amazing batsmanship against England. Chasing 283, New Zealand lost the wicket of Will Young early, who was dismissed for a golden duck by Sam Curran.
Consistent performances so far in the ODI World Cup 2023
In came Ravindra and started hitting the English bowlers for fun. In his stay in the middle, Ravindra remained unbeaten and scored 123 runs in just 96 balls, which included 11 fours and 5 sixes. Ravindra did not just hit boundaries but rotated the strike well. Rachin minimized the dot ball percentage and took the game away from England completely.
The knock against England got a good name for Ravindra. Hence, Ravindra was retained at number 3 for the match against the Netherlands. The youngster did not disappoint, as he scored 51 runs in 51 balls against the European team. The knock of Ravindra included 3 fours and a six. The bulk of Ravindra’s scoring came from strike rotation. Till now, Ravindra has not put a foot wrong and will be a big asset for New Zealand in future.
