 Ravindra Jadeja set to break former India skipper’s unique record against West Indies in ODIs

India dominated the West Indies in the two-match Test they defeated them 1-0. After clinching the Test series, the Men in Blue will lock horns with the Windies in the three-match ODI series starting from Thursday, July 27. As the visitors get ready for the ODI series, star India all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja eyes a huge milestone. Jadeja needs just four wickets away from becoming the leading wicket-taker in India vs West Indies ODIs.

The left-arm spinner is currently joint-third in the list with Anil Kumble, with 41 wickets to their name in 29 matches. Former India skipper, Kapil Dev is the top Indian wicket-taker at the moment with 43 wickets to his name, while on the other hand, the Caribbean speedster, Courtney Walsh is the highest wicket-taker as he has snapped 44 wickets at the time when he used to play.

Mohammad Siraj set to miss the ODI series against West Indies

Mohammed Siraj is set to miss the upcoming ODI series against the Windies in order to manage the workload. He has come back to India with his teammates – Ravichandran Ashwin, Ajinkya Rahane, KS Bharat, and Navdeep Saini. In Siraj’s absence, Shardul Thakur will be the most experienced bowler in the line-up. So far in the ODIs, he has snapped 50 wickets in 35 matches.

If we talk about his Test performance against the hosts, Siraj grabbed seven wickets in the two Test matches out of which he bagged five wickets in the first innings of the second and final Test for which he was awarded the Player of the Match award. The match was played at the Queen’s Pak Oval, Port of Spain, in Trinidad.

The 29-year-old last played an ODI against Australia in March 2022 where took five wickets in the series. He was the highest wicket-taker for India and the second-highest wicket-taker of that series. From the start of 2022, he has taken 43 wickets till now, which is the most by an Indian bowler in ODIs.
