Former India opener Virender Sehwag believes that young cricketers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill will establish their domination in the “upcoming decade.”

Jaiswal demonstrated his power by hitting 209 in the first innings, including 19 boundaries and 7 maximums, pushing India to a total of 396.

In India’s difficult second innings on Sunday, Shubman Gill stepped up and scored a critical 104, helping the hosts to a total of 255. This was his first century at the No. 3 position for India. The last time Cheteshwar Pujara scored a was in 2017 at the No. 3 position.

“Glad to see two youngsters, both under 25 rising to the occasion and standing out. Very likely that these two will dominate world cricket for the next decade and more,” Sehwag wrote on X.

Many Indian players praised Shubman Gill’s knock

Sachin Tendulkar also praised Shubman Gill’s knock as he scored his third century in a Test in a challenging situation.

“This inning by Shubman Gill was full of skill! Congratulations on a well-timed 100,” Sachin wrote on X.

As Shubman Gill scored a century India was able to set a total target of 399 runs chase for India. England will look to chase down the target as they did in 2019 against Australia in Headingley.

Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan emphasized the importance of ton on Gill’s mindset.

“This by @ShubmanGill, will him the most satisfaction out of his all international centuries. Came at a time when the pressure was mounting on him. Well done buddy,” Irfan wrote on X.

In the last session of Day 3, England got a solid start from Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley. Both the England openers put up a partnership of 50 runs.

Ravichandran Ashwin removed Duckett (28) with an assist of additional bounce, driving out an edge and ending his time on the pitch.
