Virat Kohli becomes the only Indian to be present in Top 10 ranking in Test and ODI batters
Virat Kohli, one of the greatest players of the game, is the only Indian to be there in the top 10 ranking in Test and ODI batters list. People who have watched him in his prime era, are the luckiest. It’s an honour for a player to earn the level of respect and recognition that Kohli has gained over 15 years. Born on November 5, 1988, Kohli made his debut in ODIs on 18 August 2008. Later in 2011, he made his Test debut on June 20.
As of now, Kohli has scored 80 centuries including seven double hundred in international cricket in all formats. On 15th November, he reached his 50th 100 at the Wankhade Stadium, in Mumbai. The best part of the century was the presence of Sachin Tendulkar in the stadium. Kohli bowed down in front of the cricket legend soon after he scored the century. Even after having a bad phase for almost two years, Kohli scored his 80th century including all the formats in 2023.
After MS Dhoni’s retirement, Kohli became India’s captain across all formats of the game. His captaincy period lasted from 2014 to 2022. In that period, India won a lot of home games as well as away games. They went to Australia and beat them in their backyard, then England and then South Africa. His trust in his players and his ability to back the bowlers in tough conditions led India to win the toughest battles.
Virat Kohli to join the team from the third Test match against England
Virat Kohli missed the first Test match played against England in Hyderabad and is set to miss the second one as well. Although the reasons are still unknown, he will be returning to the team from the third Test match. India will be playing their 2nd Test match in Visakhapatnam and later, will move to the west of the country, Rajkot, to play the 3rd Test. That’s when Kohli will join them.
In an unfortunate turn of events, India lost the first Test match against England by 28 runs. After England’s classic comeback in the second inning, the Indian batter couldn’t chase the given target and lost the match which was well in their favour by the end of day 3. However, it’s safe to say that this was one of the best Test matches in recent times as the match lasted for four days and kept the audience hooked to the game throughout.
