Indian wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan scored his maiden Test half-century in the Port of Spain on Sunday. He scored his fifty off just 33 balls with 2 sixes and 4 four fours as India declared their second innings on a rain-hit Day 4 at the Queen’s Park Oval. Kishan had the third-highest strike rate ever by a wicketkeeper in a Test innings after the Australian legend Adam Gilchrist and Rishabh Pant.

The Mumbai Indians batter reminded fans of Rishabh Pant after playing a blistering knock of 52 off 34 balls. He reached his fifty with a Pant-style, with a one-handed six down the park off Kemar Roach’s ball. Kishan had a strike rate of 152.94 while he was batting. He also had the fourth-highest strike rate ever by an Indian batter while scoring a fifty in Test cricket.

After being invited to bat first, India scored 438 runs, courtesy of Virat Kohli’s 121 runs in his 500th International match. In reply, the hosts were bundled out for just 255. They lost their last five wickets for just 26 runs, Mohammed Siraj picking up his career-best 5/50. With a lead of 182 runs, India got off to a flyer with the team scoring 100 runs in just 12.2 overs,  the fastest team to score 100 in Test cricket. The Indian skipper also smashed his fastest Test fifty off 35 balls.

The Jharkhand captain continued the aggressive style of batting that Rohit and Yashasvi showed earlier on the day before rain washed out the second session. He reminded fans of Pant by smashing some unorthodox shots after being promoted to number 4. The Men in Blue would look for a result early on Day 5 as they just need 8 wickets to win the match.

The hosts went to Stumps at 76 for 2 after having batted 32 overs after having been set a 365-run target. Ravichandran Ashwin got Windies captain Kraigg Brathwaite for the 4th time in the series before getting left-hander Kirk McKenzie for 0, as India put themselves in a good position to seal a 2-0 series sweep.
