WTC Final 2021-23: 5 reasons why India suffered humiliating defeat against Australia
Top order failure
The top four players in the Indian batting order—Rohit, Gill, Kohli, and Pujara—were never able to impress. While chasing 444, Kohli and Rohit both scored in the 40s, but Gill and Pujara were ineffective. Pujara, though, let everyone down the most. He has played in every Test match, helped Sussex win the County Championship at the Oval, and even has a stellar reputation when it comes to Test cricketers. But his limited choices undoubtedly neutralised everything. And once the top four were back in the hut, nothing worked for India, despite some tenacity from Rahane and Jadeja.
