IPL 2019 – Rishabh Pant’s fiery knock overshadowed Ajinkya Rahane’s hundred
In match 40 of the IPL 2019, the crowd at the Sawai Man Singh stadium in Jaipur witnessed a masterclass by Ajinkya Rahane, who went on score his second IPL hundred. Batting first, RR had an unlikely start after Sanju Samson got run out in the second over without playing any delivery. After that, Rahane and the skipper Steve Smith took the innings further and put up a partnership of 130 runs for the second wicket. Smith got out after scoring 50 runs off 32 balls, while Rahane remained unbeaten on 105 runs off 63 balls, hitting 11 fours and three sixes, as RR posted a total of 191 runs for the loss of 6 wickets.
Chasing the winning total, DC had a great start as Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw (42 off 39) added 72 runs for the first wicket in 7.3 overs. Dhawan got out after a well-made 54 off 27 balls. After that, Shreyas Iyer got out cheaply and the score was reduced to 77 for 2. After that, young batter Rishabh Pant took the charge of DC’s innings by putting up 84 runs along with Shaw for the third wicket. The wicketkeeper batter remained unbeaten by smashing 78 runs off 36 balls as DC scored 193 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in 19.2 overs and won the match with four balls to spare.
