IPL 2018 – RR got unlucky in a rain-affected encounter
Batting first at the Arun Jaitley stadium in Delhi in match number 32 of IPl 2018, DC lost Colin Munro for a golden duck on the very first over. After that, Prithvi Shaw and skipper Shreyas Iyer took charge of the innings and added 73 runs for the second wicket before Shaw got out on 47 off 25 balls in the eighth over. After that, Iyer put up a partnership of 92 runs with Rishabh Pant and got out after a well-made 50 runs off 35 balls. While Pant was on the mode and played a fiery knock of 69 runs off just 29 deliveries, hitting seven fours and five sixes, DC was looking for a big total with 191 runs in 17.1 overs losing 6 wickets before rain decided to play a spoilsport. The innings didn’t continue further and RR was given a target of 151 runs in 12 overs as per the DLS method.
RR also had a firing start with Jos Buttler (67 off 26) and D’Arcy Short (44 off 25) putting up 82 runs for the first wicket in 6.4 overs. After the opening was broken, RR lost momentum and went on to lose wickets at regular intervals. At last, RR could only reach 146 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 12 overs and lost the game by 4 runs.
