Washington Sundar has been an integral part of Hyderabad’s efforts so far in the season. He has been good with both the bat and ball for the team so far. But in the last match of Hyderabad against Gujarat, Sundar picked up an injury between his first finger and thumb. It has been confirmed that the all-rounder will be out of action for at least a week. The intensity and the duration of his absence are still to be confirmed officially. If  Sundar misses out on more than a week of cricketing action and Hyderabad has to look for options to replace him, then these are three players that they can think of.

1. Roston Chase: In his T20 career Roston Chase has played 34 matches. He has scored 812 runs in them at a strike rate of 124.7 and an average of 36.9. Besides he can be a very deceiving off-spin bowler. His straighters have often outfoxed even the best of the batters. So, he can have a healthy contribution to the team’s efforts with both the bat and the ball. Thus, he can be a good replacement for Sundar.

2. Shakib Al Hasan: Shakib Al Hasan could be the best replacement for Washington Sundar. He is already a seasoned campaigner in the Indian T20 League. He has played 71 Indian T20 League matches till now and has scored 793 runs in them. Besides, he has also picked up 64 wickets in these 73 matches. Thus, Hyderabad looking for a steady spin bowler and a handy lower middle-order batter must think of the Bangladeshi star.

3.Ben Cutting: Though not a like-for-like replacement but the Hyderabad franchise can think of Ben Cutting as an option for replacing Washington Sundar. In his IPL career of 21 matches, Ben Cutting has scored 238 runs at a strike rate of 168.8 and has also picked up 10 wickets in them. So, a powerful finisher and a handy bowler, Cutting could also be thought of as a replacement for Washington Sundar.
